Biographical sketch [microform] (Typescript).

Born in Rutherford County, Tennessee, son of James Pace, Sr., and Mary Ann Loving. Conversion to Mormonism in 1839; removal to Nauvoo, Illinois, 1839; activities in Nauvoo; mission to Arkansas; ordination as one of the Presidents of the Seventeenth Quorum of the Seventy; exodus west; service as a guard to Brigham Young; temporary settlement at Mt. Pisgah, Iowa; member of the Mormon Battalion as 1st lieutenant of Company B; captain of the discharged company moving from Californina to Winter Quarters, Nebraska; removal of his family to Salt Lake City, 1850; settlement in Payson, Utah, which was nambed by Brigham Young after him; marriage to Margaret heuit, 1852; mission to England in 1852; marriage to Ann Webb, 1855; removal to southern Utah, 1861; settlement on the Gila River in Arizona, 1882.
